Program Name: Economic Development: Public Works Impact Program

 
Purpose: To promote long-term economic development and assist in providing immediate useful work (ie construction jobs) to unemployed and underemployed persons in highly distressed areas.

 
Eligible Applicants: Communities or neighborhoods designated a redevelopment area under Section 401(a)(6) of the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965.

 
Eligible Activites: Building renovation, including historic preservation; repair of streets and roads serving industrial areas; construction of needed community facilities; rehabilitation of transportation facilities; and construction of water/sewer systems.
